Red Wings Trade Talk and Splitting with Dallas

We’re discussing the prospect of trading Anthony Mantha for Jake “Mister” Bean, Cole Caufield, and Bowen Byram and whether a 1-for-1 is enough.

Also, the Red Wings are above .500 since the mid-point of the season and now have wins over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Dallas Stars. None of these games have been easy for Detroit, but they march on regardless.

We have a new injury situation with Jonathan Bernier being out and Blashill’s latest discussion on Bertuzzi is puzzling, to say the least.

Larkin Leads Wings Over Canes Again

The Red Wings get 5 points of a possible 10 in the hardest stretch of the season. The 4-2 win over the Hurricanes was a showcase for Adam Erne (2G), Filip Hronek (1G 2A), and the Captain, Dylan Larkin (2A).

Red Wings Beat Lightning but Fans are Still Upset

The Red Wings beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, with room to spare! In what ends up being Tampa Bay’s worst two-game stretch of goaltending all season, the Red Wings come away with 3 points against the league’s best!

We also discuss what Red Wings fans think of Evgeny Svechnikov’s demotion to the AHL and what you want to see the NHL change, now that they’re working with ESPN.

Zadina Snipes but Wings Still Fall

Despite Filip Zadina having a great game, the Red Wings lose 5-2 and have a minus 11 goal differential in their last 3 games.

Tampa Bay, more Carolina, and Dallas are on deck.

Red Wings Struggle Immensely without Larkin

The Red Wings severely regressed in the third game-in-a-row without Dylan Larkin. The goal differential for the last two games was -8 and the analytics tell a deeper story.

Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Troy Stetcher are skating in practice, but how much longer can the WIngs holdout with Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Dallas up next?

Evgeny Svechnikov and Christian Djoos Power the Wings to Victory

The Detroit Red Wings broke through a couple of different walls they’ve had trouble with all season: Winning two in a row, beating the Blackhawks, and scoring a Power Play goal.

We also got to see Evgeny Svechnikov play in his first game this season. He scored his first goal and helped Nielsen look respectable, and provided a legit scoring threat beyond the first line.

Are the Red Wings Officially Tanking?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 23 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant hosted by the Brothers of Discussion and brought to you by the Hockey Podcast Network. Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. The Detroit Red Wings turned in their 3rd worst defensive game of the season against the Nashville Predators (from an xGA/60 perspective) and Jonathan Bernier played his nuts off again.
We also discuss Steve Yzerman’s press conference, where he subtly suggested the Wings are open for business and also stated that Goals and Assists are instinct (in one fail swoop backing Blashill and trashing his forwards)
